After The Cut... The Psomas Method
With Nicole Psomas, Physical Therapist
Nicole Psomas, PT,MS, CLT/MLD is a licensed New York and New Jersey Board Certified Physical Therapist and member of the APTA. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy and Health & Science from Thomas Jefferson University in 2003. After graduation she moved to New York City and was hired at the “Top Hospital” NY Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center... where she works to date.
Since 2004 she has accumulated an extensive resume working with various populations including: Cardiac, General Medicine, General Surgery, Intensive Care, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Pulmonary, Urology, Women’s Health and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery. During her time at New York Presbyterian Hospital, she has won several awards and taken part in producing two educational books. The first published in 2005 is entitled, “Home Exercise Program For Your Child After Heart Surgery” and the second, “Welcome To The Burn Center.” She has been the recipient of two Patient Centered Care Grants. The grant awarded in June 2012 is to aide in the recovery from post-operative bariatric surgery. Over the past nine years at Cornell, she has treated patients recovering from Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, working hand-in-hand with famed surgeons to optimize the patient’s recovery.
Nicole Psomas, PT,MS, CLT/MLD has continued her education, taking courses to advance her skills, and developing a protocol specific to the elective plastic surgery population. She understands the journey a patient will embark on after surgery… physically and psychologically. Because this transformative time is a very sensitive one, the confidentiality and discretion she maintains, are amongst the highest factors for ensuring her great reputation. Over the past several years, she has treated patients from all over the world, from high profile executives to Hollywood celebrities. The unique perspective of being a clinician and patient has allowed her to offer the skills and support the patient has needed to achieve the best results possible.
In the year 2010, she made the decision to have an elective cosmetic procedure done with New York City Plastic Surgeon, Dr. David Shafer, MD. With minimal information on rehabilitation after cosmetic plastic surgery, she instinctually used the skills practiced on a daily basis to facilitate healing and improve her appearance. Dr. Shafer was astounded by her results and asked her to share the secrets for a fabulous recovery. This sparked a referral service where, to date, she’s been treating his patients, implementing techniques and educating individuals on how to take recovery into their own hands. She has developed her own unique recipe for recovery she calls "After The Cut"..."The Psomas Method."
